Manorville FD Responds to a Motor Vehicle Accident on the Long Island Expressway

On Sunday morning, September 26th at 0413 hours, Manorville Fire was activated to respond to a reported motor vehicle accident with an overturned vehicle and victims trapped. While crews were crewing up, the county dispatch was informing the crews that Suffolk PD is on scene and has confirmed people are trapped and require extrication. MFD Engine 5-16-7 from Station 2 and Heavy Rescue from HQ immediately where enroute to the location. 5-16-7 was first on scene, with Heavy Rescue 5-16-1 right behind. Engine 7 worked on victim extrication on the silver car, while Rescue 1 worked on victim extrication on the red car. There was a total of 5 persons involved, 4 of which required medical treatment. The Suffolk Police Helicopter flew one patient to Stony Brook, the other 3 where taken by ambulance to various hospitals. Ambulances from Manorville Community, Riverhead, Flanders, and Wading River all assited with patient care and transpiration. All Manorville units where cleared from the alarm at 0532 hours.
