On Monday at 1900 Hours, the Manorville Fire Department held it's annual Ice/Cold Water Rescue Drill. This year we changed our location and used the Sand Pits in Manorville of off South Street. All units assembled at the Sand Pits @ 1900 Hours. Ladder 5-16-4 was used for Scene Lighting above the water. Heavy Rescue 5-16-1 which carries all of our Ice/Water Rescue Equipment staged near the entrance to the water next to the sand barriers around the water. Some of the Fireman where the "Victims" and others the Rescue Team. Members practiced how to swim out to the Victim and properly secure the Victim with the Rescue Harness and Rescue Sled. Numerous evolutions where performed to give as many members the opportunity to practice their skills. The Mastic Fire Department also joined Manorville and helped run drills as well as standing by as a back up safety unit in case any members ran into problems during the drill. The drill was organized by Assistant Chief Brown, our Training Chief. During this drill, we utilized our Drone to observer, film, and take pictures, as well as practicing to fly our Drone. Some pictures and Videos are available on this page to view. All units completed the Drill and where back in service by 2130 hours.
